Every Canadian citizen or permanent residence of Canada can sponsor their immediate family members.
Immediate family members are:
Spouse can be either sex and must be legally married to you and at least 18 years old.
The Canadian citizen or permanent residence of Canada should be able to prove to the authorities that he/she is also eligible to sponsor their family members. He/she should not have any criminal records, neither any breach of previous obligations to Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada.
The dependency age for children is 22 years and they should not have a spouse or common law partner.
To sponsor parents and grandparents Canadian citizen and permanent residences should be able to support them financially and emotionally.
The financial evaluation is based on low-income family cut-off table, released by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada every year.
